A practical first two hours in ArcheAge Chronicles: character choice, opening quests, stat points, Coilstones, exploration and the mistakes to avoid at launch.
ArcheAge Chronicles First Two Hours
Pick a class you can play for a week, finish the opening quest chain, spend every stat point on your damage stat and pick up Coilstones as soon as they appear. Do not chase a second weapon or a perfect build in the first two hours.
Launch day in an MMO is a bad time for experiments. Servers are crowded, quest mobs are contested and every class feels different from the guide you read. The first two hours should be about unlocking systems and choosing a direction, not optimising a rotation.
Before you log in
- Pick your class. Warrior for a forgiving melee, Ranger for solo ranged, Berserker for group frontline, Mage only if you want magic and accept the unknown.
- Install on an SSD. The game requires 100 GB and zone loads are frequent.
- Decide your channel. Standard channels are safe; PvP channels give 10–15% more EXP from monsters.
- Claim your pre-order bonus. The Dawn Pioneer Set is claimed in-game and is class-specific.
The first 30 minutes
- Finish the tutorial and unlock your basic weapon skills.
- Put every stat point into your damage stat: Strength, Agility or Intelligence.
- Learn the dodge, parry and guard timing before you fight anything elite.
- Do not sell gear you do not understand; check its stats first.
- Set your camera and keybinds now, not after twenty hours.
30 to 60 minutes
- Follow the opening story chain into the first settlement.
- Clear discovery points around the settlement before moving on.
- Pick up your first Raeven's Coilstone if one is nearby.
- Spend your first trait point on a skill-changing branch, not a raw damage node.
- Try the first field boss only if other players are nearby.
60 to 120 minutes
- Push the main quest until you unlock the first dungeon.
- Run the dungeon solo or with a friend to learn boss telegraphs.
- Return to any Coilstone you skipped.
- Check your weapon tree's next branch before spending more points.
- Decide whether your class feels right; rerolling at level 10 is cheaper than at level 30.
What not to do
- Do not split stats. Physical and magic stats do not mix.
- Do not split trait points across two weapons. Finish one tree's core first.
- Do not grind mobs. Quests, discovery and collection points pay better.
- Do not buy gear from other players on day one. Prices are inflated and quest gear is enough.
- Do not assume a level cap. None has been published.
A note on class choice
If you are torn between Warrior and Ranger, pick Warrior for melee and Ranger for ranged; both have forgiving solo tools. Berserker is the best group pick but slower to level. Mage is the highest-variance choice because its kit is the least documented.
The best class page has the full breakdown, and the leveling guide covers the systems you will use after the first two hours.

FAQ
What class should I start with?
Warrior for melee, Ranger for ranged solo, Berserker for group play. Mage if you specifically want magic.
Should I play on a PvP channel at launch?
Only if you are comfortable with open PvP. The 10–15% EXP bonus is real, but so is the risk.
When should I pick up Coilstones?
As soon as they are reachable. Trait points change skills and are separate from leveling.
Can I reroll later?
Yes, but there is no announced class-change system. Rerolling early is cheaper than rebuilding at level 30.
